It started in 2025 as a quiz prototype that ran right on IMDb title and name pages, and in 2026 it moved to IMDb Labs, where IMDb tries out new ideas with fans. How it plays Pick a title, a person or an interest, then race a 45-second clock through 20 questions built from IMDb data: images, videos, quotes and trivia. Interest quizzes turn IMDb’s genres, subgenres and franchises, like Marvel and John Wick, into playable sets. A Daily Kernel quiz gives fans a reason to come back every day. Badges Badges are what keep people playing. You climb five ranks with lifetime points, earn skill badges for streaks and perfect runs, collect badges for finishing sets and exploring interests, and find a hidden soundtrack badge in quizzes that secretly play a film’s real score. Swipe or type letters from the wheel to spell the answers hidden on the board, while a scene from the movie or show sits behind it as your clue. Puzzles come in categories like Movies, TV, Comedy, Romance, Sci-Fi and Horror, and every 5 puzzles you clear unlocks a new category. Any real word you spell banks bonus stars, longer words pay more, and hints and info cards with character images keep you moving. A short tutorial gets new players going in seconds. I worked with a team to build an interconnected journey using our Video Wall, Premium Title Page, and our new Premium Name Pages. I created 8 name pages, each with character specific content, but what really brings this all together is the dynamic trending widget that updates the page rank of each character or “god” every 15 seconds. Using the technology from our current trending widget, users can track each name page execution based on page traffic. It’s a great way to make these experiences more discoverable, while also helping tell the customer’s story of gods competing for our attention.
